Invasive and aggressive native insects pose a significant threat to the health and longevity of your urban trees. Pests like the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), Japanese Beetle, and Scale can quickly cause severe damage, canopy decline, and eventual tree mortality if left untreated.
Our Insect and Pest Control service goes beyond basic surface sprays, using advanced, systemic methods that are both highly effective for the tree and environmentally conscious for your landscape.
Targeted Systemic Treatment Methods
We utilize the tree’s natural vascular system (xylem and phloem) to distribute protective chemicals internally. This ensures the entire tree is treated, from the leaves to the roots, and minimizes exposure to non-target insects (like beneficial pollinators).
Our primary methods include:
- Systemic Trunk Injections: Ideal for high-value trees or in sensitive areas. We inject a measured dose of insecticide directly into the base of the trunk. The tree then carries the treatment upward, providing several years of protection against boring insects and leaf-feeders.
- Systemic Soil Drenches: A powerful solution applied to the soil at the base of the tree. The roots absorb the insecticide and transport it throughout the canopy, offering long-lasting protection against root and leaf pests.
Protecting Against Major Local Threats
Our programs are specifically designed to address the most damaging pests in our region:
- Emerald Ash Borer (EAB): EAB is a crisis pest for all Ash trees. Our treatments protect healthy Ash trees from the internal feeding larvae, often saving them from removal.
- Japanese Beetle: Control of these adult beetles prevents severe leaf defoliation on popular ornamentals like Linden, Rose, and Birch.
- Aphids & Scale: These sap-sucking insects drain the tree's energy. Systemic control protects the foliage and prevents the unsightly sticky residue (honeydew) they produce.
By investing in proactive pest management, you ensure the structural integrity, aesthetic value, and long-term health of your trees.
